How to get penny clicks on Bing
This is not the first article I write about Bing, neither is it the first article how to get cheap search traffic, but it’s the only article that will tell you how to go as low as a penny per click on one of the coolest paid search platforms.
I’ve been running Bing ads for a long time and I’s still like “whaaat? no way…” when I saw a friend getting penny clicks. Here’s a snapshot of his results:
After seeing those results, I started another campaign right away and got those penny clicks myself, although that traffic was not all from US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (had never targeted other countries than those, but it turned out there’s decent traffic elsewhere too).
Even if you don’t manage to do that good, you’ll still get very cheap search traffic. You just have to know some of Bing’s traffic is not that quality (mostly the traffic that comes from their partners, yet I’m sure that’s something you already knew).
Alright, here’s how to do it:
1 Create a Bing ads account
2 Set a budget of about 10 bucks (you can go for 20 or more, whatever you are comfortable with)
3 Target about 5-10 other English speaking countries to be able to lower the price below $0.05 per click
4 Copy your landing page copy to your ad (or vice versa) to make your ad as congruent as possible for better conversions.
For example: If that was my landing page http://empoweredteam.net/, my ad would be:
The Trillion Dollar Market “They” Don’t Want You To Know About…
or something like that.
5 Target keywords that are proven to be profitable
This is the most important step, nothing is more valuable than knowing exactly which campaigns are the most profitable.
how to do that?
You need a tool called SEMrush to be able to see what keywords and ads have been kept running the longest.
The longer an advertiser runs a campaign, the more profitable it is.
You can then use those profitable competitor’s ads and keywords to model your campaigns.
Try it out for free:
6 Include about 100 keywords that have at least 1,000 searches a month
You can of course play with the options a little bit here and see what gets you the best results. Untick “phrase” and check “broad” “exact” and “content” matches
7 Run your search and content campaigns separately to be able to optimize your ads specifically for windows apps (Bing’s content network).
Update
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about search and content ads… and wonder whether it was a good idea to list this step or not since you might get a bit confused, and you know I’m all about simplicity, people who complicate things don’t know shit, yet at the same time I wanted to help you better optimize your ads…
…I’ll leave it as is because if you run them separately, you can still better optimize your ads, yet don’t waste too much energy on this.
Stick to your main goal – lower the price as much as possible.
8 Set a bid of about $0.05 per click
9 Leave desktops and laptops, and deselect smart phones and tablets under “device targeting”
Update
Both Google and Bing combined tablet and PC targeting a while ago to push more ads on Tablets, as people weren’t too crazy about running them by themselves.
Not much we can do about it rather than use the available modifiers to lower tablet ads to a minimum.
You can decrease your tablet bid by up to -20%, as for mobile, adjust it to -100%.

Keep in mind you can’t hope for all the clicks to be that cheap. Some will be about 5 cents, some will be 4 or 3, or 7… get ready to get cheap traffic and lower the price to $0.01 a click.
